On July 29, 2025, the 9th and 4th Expanded Council Meeting of the China Pen making Association was grandly held at the Platinum Hotel in Xi'an, Shaanxi. The theme of this conference is "Gathering Hearts, Inspiring the Future". Nearly 150 industry leaders, enterprise representatives, experts, scholars, directors, and member unit leaders from all over the country gathered together to explore new paths for high-quality development of the pen making industry.     The morning meeting was chaired by Mr. Wang Yuanhong, Vice Chairman of the China Pen Association and Chairman of Qingdao Dianshi Stationery Products Co., Ltd.   Zhang Zelong, Deputy General Manager of Shaanxi Yanchang middling coal Yulin Energy and Chemical Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Yulin Energy and Chemical), first delivered a welcome speech, expressing a warm welcome to all leaders and representatives, introducing the development situation and prospects of Yulin Energy and Chemical Co., Ltd., and looking forward to working with pen making colleagues to create better products and help the high-quality development of pen making industry.   Ren Xiuying, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the China Pen making Association, delivered the "2024 Work Report of the China Pen making Association", which comprehensively reviewed the work achievements of the association in the past year, the difficulties and challenges faced by the industry, and proposed the work goals and development directions for 2025. Zhang Weidong, Deputy Secretary General and Director of the Comprehensive Business Department of the Chinese Pen Association, announced the list of selected brands in the first (2024) Chinese pen industry selection, and selected 30 selected brands from 27 enterprises. On July 16-17, the second (expanded) meeting of the 9th Pencil Professional Committee of the China Pen Association was held at the permanent venue of the Yabuli Entrepreneur Forum in Shangzhi City. Chen Hui, Chairman of Fujian Prolo Group Co., Ltd., delivered a special report on the popularization and development trend of intelligent pencil manufacturing in China. On October 15-19, 2024, organized by the China Pen Making Association, Chairman Yang Chengjie led a team of 18 industry enterprises to Japan for research and study tours. The purpose of this study tour is to strengthen the exchange of advanced experience between the industry and foreign countries, explore creativity, broaden horizons, and promote the high-quality development of China's pen making industry.   During the short 5-day study tour, the association invited Japanese retail expert and former head of MUJI's development department, Mr. Rongzhi Suzuki, who is proficient in managing the entire process from production, wholesale to retail, to share the secret to MUJI's success. Mr. Suzuki used MUJI's product strategy as an analysis template to provide a detailed interpretation of MUJI's brand philosophy, marketing philosophy, and product development process; Professor Chunxiong Nakayama, an expert in the research of Japanese anime IP industry, shared "IP Authorization and How to Innovate", delving into the authorization and application of Japanese IP culture, and exploring the business opportunities of product IP based on anime; Mr. Takahiro Shimizu, Head of the Affairs Department of the Japan Stationery Foundation and Director of the Japan Market Creation Research Association, shared the "Macro Situation and Market Development Status and Trends of the Japanese Pen Industry", comprehensively introducing the size of the Japanese pen market, category composition ratio, market sales data in the past five years, as well as manufacturer trends and marketing measures. On November 11th, the Light Industry Technology Innovation and Green Development Conference with the theme of "New Quality Leading and Building Strong Light Industry" hosted by the China Light Industry Federation was held in Nanjing.   The conference released the "Catalogue of Advanced Scientific and Technological Innovation Achievements in Light Industry during the 14th Five Year Plan", which includes 59 advanced scientific and technological innovation achievements, covering 20 industry fields such as home appliances, plastics, food, and pen making. It covers multiple cutting-edge fields such as intelligent manufacturing, green low-carbon, biomanufacturing, new materials, and artificial intelligence, reflecting the significant achievements of light industry in promoting high-level technological self-reliance and developing new quality productivity since the 14th Five Year Plan. On November 13, 2025, in the late autumn of Huzhou, the city was adorned with vibrant hues of maple leaves, while the fragrance of ink wafted along the Shaoxi River. As a city steeped in the culture of brushmaking—renowned as the "Hometown of Huzhou Brush"—it hosted the annual gathering of the National Brush Standardization Technical Committee: the 2025 National Brush Standardization Technical Committee Annual Conference and China Brush Industry Standardization Work Conference. Over 100 leaders, guests, committee members, industry experts, and corporate representatives convened together to focus on the central theme of "Standard Empowerment Driving Sustainable Industrial Development," seeking direction, consensus, and momentum for the high-quality growth of the brush-making industry.   The meeting commenced in a solemn and orderly atmosphere, presided over by Zhang Bingyang, Deputy Director of the China Stationery Association, Deputy Director of the National Technical Committee for Stationery Standardization, and General Manager of China No.1 Pencil Co., Ltd. Actively participate in and strive to lead international standardization efforts in the pen industry, focusing on cultivating specialized international standardization talent, thoroughly studying the rules and procedures for international standard formulation, and elevating China's international voice in standardization.   To help participants gain a deep understanding of how standards support industrial upgrading, the conference invited Xiang Xiaoxia, Director of the Standards Department at the China Light Industry Federation, to deliver a keynote speech on standardization efforts. She pointed out that with the ongoing advancement of the new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation, international standard competition is becoming increasingly fierce, while domestic consumption upgrading demands are growing more urgent. The standardization work in China's pen industry still faces multiple challenges: some existing standards are outdated and disconnected from technological innovation and market development; standard frameworks in emerging areas such as smart manufacturing, green design, humanized experience, and new material applications remain relatively weak; and the internationalization level and global influence of standards still need further enhancement. In response, she put forward five expectations for the delegates: First, adhere to innovation-driven development, strengthen the technical foundation of standards, and focus on the research, application, and development of new eco-friendly materials, smart writing instruments, precision processing techniques, biodegradable materials, and other key areas; Second, prioritize quality improvement, enhance the implementation and application of standards, and explore the establishment of a standard implementation effectiveness evaluation mechanism to ensure standards are "well-established, practical, and effectively utilized"; Third, align with consumption demands and expand the scope of standard coverage; Fourth, promote open collaboration and international standard alignment; Fifth, improve coordination mechanisms and unite industry development efforts.   Ms. Ren Xiuying, Director of the National Standardization Technical Committee for Pens, delivered a keynote speech titled "Standard Empowerment and Leading Sustainable Industrial Development." Her address covered five key aspects: the national-level emphasis on standardization work and policy guidance; the current state of the pen industry and its core challenges; achievements in the formulation and revision of industry standards and system construction; prominent issues in standardization efforts within the pen industry; and key planning directions for standardization under the new circumstances.  In particular, Director Ren highlighted existing shortcomings, including the lack of systematic green and low-carbon standards, insufficient coordination between technological R&D and standardization mechanisms, and inadequate implementation capabilities for standards among some enterprises. To address these issues, she proposed clear measures: strengthening top-level design, focusing on breakthrough high standards in key areas; accelerating the digital transformation of standardization and improving mechanisms for standard application and promotion; and increasing support for laboratory construction in industry enterprises to enhance standard verification and implementation capabilities.   In 2025, under the leadership of the China Stationery Ink Pen Association, the Standards Committee, led by its director and secretary-general, achieved a highly fruitful year. Through relentless efforts and collaboration, one goal after another was accomplished, yielding remarkable achievements. During the meeting, Secretary-General Yao Hezhong of the Standards Committee delivered a work report. He noted that in 2025, the Standards Committee thoroughly implemented the requirements of the "National Standardization Development Outline" and the "Outline for Building a Quality-Powered Nation," using high standards to guide the high-quality development of the industry and driving a critical transformation in the standardization efforts of the stationery ink pen industry from "adapting to industry development" to "leading industry development." In terms of annual work achievements, 2025 saw the completion of 1 national standard formulation and the revision of 18 industry standards, with an annual plan fulfillment rate of 100%. Additionally, 5 national standards were published throughout the year. Key work advancements included:Strengthen the research and development of new experimental method standards to provide methodological support for industry technological innovation; Continuously deepen the promotion and technical training of standards, and enhance the implementation capability of enterprise standards; Initiate and promote the formulation of the "15th Five Year Plan" standard system construction plan for China's pen industry, laying out a layout for standardization work in the next five years.

On October 31st, Yang Chengjie, Chairman of the China Pen Association, Ren Xiuying, Vice Chairman and Secretary General, and Feng Zhaoxue, Deputy Secretary General and Director of the Information Exhibition Department, visited the third phase of the 138th Canton Fair. The visit focused on stationery and related exhibition areas, aiming to understand industry trends, overseas market conditions, and have in-depth exchanges with participating companies.   The third phase of this year's Canton Fair is themed "Better Life", with the stationery exhibition area ranking among the top in the world for similar professional exhibitions, demonstrating strong international competitiveness. Many well-known stationery companies, including Morning Light Stationery, Beifa, Qixin, Hobby, Dianshi, Zhencai, Baixue, Anhui Tuqiang, Jinwannian, Ningbo Anni, Wenzhou Shengfeng, Wenzhou Wentai, Guangzhou Mingtao, Lishui Chuanren, Zhejiang Hongxing, Shangzhi Baosen, Pearl Pen Industry, Wenzhou Tianfeng, Shanghai Wenzheng, Nanchang Yiren, Zehua Wood Industry, Jiangsu Xiangzhao, Weihai Jinma, Beiledi, Tonglu Jinma, Anhui Tianjian and other association member units participated in the exhibition. These enterprises are reshaping the industry ecosystem through intelligent, green, and personalized innovative products. Each exhibit is not only a product, but also an innovative proposal for a better life.   Chairman Yang Chengjie and his delegation visited the booths of multiple member companies and had in-depth discussions with the responsible persons on topics such as product research and development, cost control, and overseas market feedback. They encouraged the companies to continue to deepen their expertise in segmented fields and adhere to innovation.   Chairman Yang Chengjie stated that the digital transformation achievements and green development concepts demonstrated by stationery companies at this year's Canton Fair provide fresh samples for the high-quality development of the entire industry. The association will further build a resource docking platform based on this, promote the internationalization of industry standards, and help more enterprises achieve "smart manufacturing" going global and brand upgrading.  

  On July 29th, the "IP Empowered Pen Industry High Quality Development Exchange and Matchmaking Conference" jointly organized by the China Pen Making Association and the authorized industry branch of the China Play Association was successfully held at the Platinum Hotel in Xi'an. Ren Xiuying, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the China Pen Making Association, attended the meeting and invited senior executives from 15 authorized manufacturers and nearly 50 well-known pen making enterprises to participate. The meeting was chaired by Feng Zhaoxue, Deputy Secretary General and Director of the Information Exhibition Department of the China Pen making Association.   The conference focuses on the integration and innovation of IP and the pen making industry, aiming to build a precise docking platform between authorized manufacturers and pen making enterprises through IP resources, inject innovative vitality into pen making enterprises, promote product upgrading and brand appreciation, jointly explore new paths for industry development, and promote high-quality development of the industry.   Ren Xiuying, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the Chinese Pen Association, delivered a speech. The importance of IP empowerment in upgrading the pen making industry was emphasized, and the expectation of promoting resource docking and exploring cooperation opportunities through this conference was expressed.   The conference invited Yan Yu, Chairman and Founder of Shanghai Wencai Industrial Co., Ltd., and Huang Sijia, Authorized Director of Youyang Culture Media Co., Ltd., to give keynote speeches and share their experiences in product innovation and market penetration through practical cases on behalf of stationery companies; Mr. Huang authorized enterprises to analyze the incubation logic and cooperation mode of high-quality IP from the perspective of IP operation, providing diverse ideas for the companies present.   Accurately breaking the ice, entering the guest self introduction stage, each attending authorized guest and 6 authorized representatives briefly introduced the core business, advantageous resources, and cooperation needs of the enterprise within 1 minute, quickly bringing each other closer and laying the foundation for subsequent cooperation   Li Ling, Secretary General of the Authorization Industry Branch of the China Play Association, made a summary of the meeting. He said that with the deepening of national consumption upgrading, consumers' demand for products has become increasingly diverse, and the integration of the pen and stationery industry and IP has become a trend. A set of data in the "2024 White Paper on the Development of China's Brand Authorization Industry" is particularly noteworthy: in 2024, the stationery office industry accounted for 9.1% of the industry to which authorized merchants belong, ranking fourth steadily. This fully demonstrates that IP authorization has become an important engine driving the high-quality development of the stationery industry. He hopes that today's meeting will allow authorized and authorized parties to get to know each other, fall in love, and bear fruit.   This exchange and docking meeting conveyed cutting-edge concepts through thematic sharing, broke down information barriers through precise self introduction, activated cooperation possibilities through free communication, and effectively promoted cross-border communication between authorized dealers and pen manufacturers. The Chinese pen making industry maintains counter trend growth   In 2024, global economic growth still faces significant pressure, with developed and developing economies generally facing the dilemma of weak growth; The driving force and resistance of economic globalization are highly intertwined, with trade protectionism, economic populism, resource nationalism, and other ideologies widely rising and spreading globally, leading to ongoing trade frictions; The domestic market has weak consumption and fierce competition.   Faced with the complex and severe situation of increasing external pressure and internal difficulties, the Chinese pen making industry is accelerating the construction of a new development pattern, solidly promoting high-quality development of the industry, and making steady progress in the operation of the entire industry, maintaining growth in adversity. From January to November 2024, the total assets of 266 pen making enterprises above designated size amounted to 17.063 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 8.54%; Operating revenue was 15.997 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.88%; The total profit was 905 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.77%. From January to November 2024, China's cumulative export of pen products reached 3.47 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 3.92%.   2. The 9th Third Council Expansion Meeting and 9th Second Member Representative Conference of the Chinese Pen making Association were successfully held in Wenzhou   On April 22-23, 2024, the 9th Third Council Expansion Meeting and the 9th Second Member Representative Conference of the China Pen making Association were held at the Marriott Hotel in Wenzhou. A total of 165 people, including leaders from Wenzhou City, heads of local associations, government departments related to industrial clusters, the chairman, vice chairman, secretary-general, executive director, directors, and member representatives of the China Pen Association, participated. The conference, with the theme of "common cause, unified goal", summarizes and reports on the work for 2023, plans and implements the work for 2024, unifies ideological understanding, and works together to promote the high-quality development of the pen making industry.   3. The China Pen Making Association launched the first "Selection and Release of Brands for Cultivating the Chinese Pen Industry" activity     In order to implement the spirit of the "Notice on Carrying out Brand Cultivation in the Pen Industry" issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, accelerate the implementation of the "Three Products" strategy in the pen industry, better "practice the Three Products Action, serve a better life", guide consumers to consume scientifically, and enhance the influence of Chinese pen industry brands, the China Pen Association launched the "China Pen Industry Cultivation Brand Selection and Release" activity for the first time in 2024. After independent application, preliminary review, re review and other stages by enterprises, as well as multiple rounds of discussion and scoring by the judging panel based on strict selection criteria, 30 brands from 27 enterprises were finally selected as the selected brands for this event, covering seven brands including pencils, fountain pens, ballpoint pens, marker pens, activity pencils, art pens, writing equipment, etc. Category.4. The Party building work of the Chinese Pen making Association is under the unified leadership of the Social Work Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.     This adjustment marks the further strengthening and emphasis of the Party Central Committee on the party building work of national industry associations.   5. The certification trademark "CWIA" of the Chinese Pen Association is increasingly recognized by pen manufacturers and consumers.   Since the launch of the "CWIA" certification trademark by the China Pen Association, multiple companies have applied for the qualification to use the certification trademark. The association strictly follows the "CWIA" Certification Trademark Usage Management Rules of the China Pen Association "and the relevant requirements for examination specific pen products, conducting on-site inspections and evaluations. Nearly 20 companies have obtained the qualification to use the certification trademark through the evaluation. In 2024, 8 companies applied for the "CWIA" exam to use a pen to prove their trademark qualification. After reviewing the materials, inspecting the site, and conducting questioning and communication, the evaluation experts provided constructive opinions and suggestions to the applying companies, and unanimously agreed to pass the on-site re evaluation. After research by the association, it was decided to continue to authorize 8 pen making companies to use the "CWIA" certification trademark for exam specific high-quality pen products.   6. The Chinese pen making industry has made new progress in technological innovation, fully leveraging the supporting role of technological innovation in high-quality development.       Science and technology are the primary productive forces and primary competitiveness. Technological innovation is the only way   In 2024, the association will take multiple measures to promote technological innovation and technology promotion among industry enterprises. The association organized a special seminar on the application of special fibers in the manufacturing of polymer pen tips; Organizing enterprise selection for the China Light Union Science and Technology Progress Award: The research and industrialization of high specific surface and skin core structured fiber materials and environmental protection products, jointly completed by Wenzhou University, Wuxi Shengye Tebang New Material Technology Co., Ltd., Donghua University, Wenzhou Aishang Stationery Co., Ltd., and Beifa Group Co., Ltd., won the first prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award for invention. The application of labor-saving pencil sharpeners, completed by Shanghai Chenguang Stationery Co., Ltd., won the third prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award; Recommended by the China Pen Making Association, the brands of Shanghai Pavlo Cultural Products Co., Ltd., Tianjin Ostrich Ink Co., Ltd., and Shanghai Wencai Industrial Co., Ltd. have successfully applied to participate in the 2024 Ruili Light Luxury Brand Competition and have been shortlisted. Technological innovation leads industrial transformation and upgrading, fully leveraging the supporting role of technological innovation in the high-quality development of the pen making industry.   7. The pen making industry actively explores the international market, and the China Pen Making Association and some local associations have organized delegations to conduct overseas inspections, achieving good results. The Chinese Pen Association organized industry entrepreneurs to conduct research and study tours in Japan and the United Arab Emirates (Dubai). Strengthening the exchange of advanced experience between the industry and foreign countries, and expanding horizons; Enhanced international exchanges and cooperation, laying the foundation for expanding into the Middle East and even Eastern European markets.   The Wenzhou Pen Making Association, together with the Ningbo Stationery Industry Association and the Yiwu Cultural Supplies Association, organized industry delegations to visit Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Dubai and other places, strengthening bilateral economic and trade cooperation and exchanges, further promoting the internationalization process of the industry, and exploring opportunities for overseas expansion of the industry.

In order to better build an industry authorization platform and cultivate and develop new quality productivity in the industry, on October 17, 2024, on the occasion of the CLE China Authorization Exhibition, the China Light Industry Federation Brand Authorization Committee and the China Play Association Authorization Industry Branch held a China Light Industry Federation Brand Authorization Work Exchange Meeting in Shanghai.
